School Trips
We are immensely proud to be able to provide these educational visits for our local schools. With funding from our benefactors, we are able to fully finance these trips to Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre.
The day normally starts at 8am with the children boarding the bus for their epic voyage to Grimsby known in fishing terms as GY. Arriving about 11am they set off around the museum’s fantastic life like displays. Stopping for a bit of lunch in the educational space, they then board The Ross Tiger a preserved Middle Water Trawler much the same as The Ben Boats that sailed from North Shields known in fishing terms as SN. Followed by a question-and-answer session back in the educational room. It’s fantastic to listen to the children’s questions about what they have just experienced.
After about 3 hours of exploration and excitement they board the bus for the homeward bound voyage back to North Shields. We have even had songs on the way home which brings a smile to our faces. It truly is a rewarding experience for all involved especially when we see the children supporting each other and working as a team without instruction.
Arriving back in dock at North Shields about 6:30pm they set of back home with a Certificate to remind them of thier Voyage to Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre.
On behalf of the Board of Governors at New York Primary School I would like to convey my sincere thanks for the generosity of you and your team of volunteers and trustees in enabling, organising and funding the Year 5 visit to Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre.
All in all this was a wonderful experience, one which is still talked about in school. Your generosity and kindness went over and above as governors are aware that you also provided souvenirs for the children.
